I'm Rhys Iorwerth, a professional author and translator.I translate texts of all kinds, write copy, deliver workshops and create poetry.The service is always personal and I put great emphasis on the quality of my work, as well as on timely delivery. I have over 25 years’ experience of translating texts into Welsh and English, including ten years running my own business.I am a full member of Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (the Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters). I work across a wide range of fields, from creative and legal material to children's cartoons! I also hold professional indemnity insurance.Public bodies that I work with include the Welsh Government, Senedd Cymru, Visit Wales, Arts Council of Wales, Literature Wales, Adnodd and WJEC. I offer various workshops to organisations, businesses and schools, including:

  • Creative translation into Welsh (primarily for translators working with creative texts)

  • Effective bilingual copywriting (for organisations eager to strengthen their staff’s confidence and skills in writing in Welsh)

  • House style or tone of voice

  • Writing Welsh poetry or cynghanedd for fun (an unusual corporate or team-building activity, delivered through the medium of Welsh)

  • Poetry workshops in schools (delivered through the medium of Welsh to develop children’s creative writing skills)

Alongside my professional translation and copywriting work, I am an active Welsh-language poet. My poetry awards include:

  • Winner of the Chair, National Eisteddfod of Wales, 2011

  • Winner of the Crown, National Eisteddfod of Wales, 2023

  • Winner, Welsh-language Poetry Category, Wales Book of the Year, 2015

  • Dic Jones Memorial Prize, BBC Radio Cymru, 2013, 2019, 2021, 2026

  • Michael Marks Award for Poetry in a Celtic Language, 2020

I have also presented programmes and written extensively for TV and radio.My broadcasting work includes Gwlad Bardd, the film I scripted and presented about the Welsh-language poetrey scene.
